Night in New York. A Jazz Evening on the Terrace Overlooking the Sea
The summer air, infused with the scent of the Mediterranean. The soft glow of candlelight. A terrace of an ancient Armenian monastery, perched above the coastline. And — jazz. Real, live, heartfelt.
On this night, we invite you to be transported to nocturnal New York — the city where the magic of jazz was born. Where the lights of Times Square shimmer at dusk, and velvet voices echo from Harlem clubs:
"What a wonderful world…"
As the sun sets, the monastery walls will fill with the music of legends: Sinatra. Fitzgerald. Armstrong. Charles.
And the voice guiding this journey — Sophie Chudnovsky — a jazz vocalist and actress with a remarkable artistic path, spanning from the St. Petersburg stage to Netflix, from musicals to Israel’s premier venues.
This is more than just a concert. It’s an echo of New York, traced in the arches of an old monastery and bathed in golden sunset light.
Jazz. Sea. Candles. And you.
Lineup:
Sophie Chudnovsky — jazz singer, multi-instrumentalist, voice actress (Netflix), vocal coach, soloist of the Haifa Big Band, and resident of Gig House. Former soloist with St. Petersburg orchestras and head of the pop department at the Elena Obraztsova Music Academy.
Neri Topchyu - a double bassist with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and a big band. He has performed with Matti Caspi, Shlomo Gronich, David Broza, as well as Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. He has performed worldwide, including in China and the United States.
Stanislav Zilberman — master of percussion in Jazz, Latin, and Fusion. Collaborated with Leonid Ptashka, Guy Mintus, Joel Alexander, and James Morrison.
Daniel Kruglov — virtuoso pianist, turning each part into a jeweler's work.
Please note: the concert takes place outdoors on the grounds of an ancient seaside monastery. It may get chilly by the sea in the evening, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or something warm in case of cool weather.
Also, please be aware that there is no bar or café on the monastery grounds.
Entrance to the monastery is from the Jaffa promenade side, not through the Old City.
See you among the candles, music, and the evening sea ✨
