Join us for a truly special evening by the sea, where the timeless music of Sting comes to life amid hundreds of candles, the ancient stone walls of the historic Armenian Monastery, and the intimate sound of a live jazz band featuring vocalist Tommer Hesseg.
For one unforgettable night, Sting's legendary songs—including Shape of My Heart, Englishman in New York, Fragile, Every Breath You Take, Desert Rose, and many more—will be reimagined through warm, intimate jazz arrangements. Rather than the grandeur of a symphony orchestra, this performance offers something more personal: expressive vocals, a refined rhythm section, improvisation, the sound of the sea, and the unique atmosphere of Old Jaffa.
The voice of the evening is Tommer Hesseg, whose velvety tone and remarkable musical sensitivity bring fresh depth to Sting's iconic songs. His performance reveals new layers in familiar melodies, making them feel closer, more intimate, and deeply moving.
Imagine Fragile unfolding beneath the glow of hundreds of candles. Desert Rose echoing with Middle Eastern colors in the heart of ancient Jaffa. Englishman in New York transformed into a story of freedom in the city. Shape of My Heart filling the night with the quiet, heartfelt romance that has made Sting's music beloved around the world.
This is more than a tribute concert. It is an evening where timeless songs become a living conversation—between the vocalist and the jazz band, between the ancient monastery and the Mediterranean Sea, between cherished memories and a fresh musical interpretation created in the present moment.
Performers:
Vocal — Tommer Hesseg
An Israeli singer, conductor, and composer. Holds a Doctorate in Music, a graduate of the Beit Zvi School of Performing Arts, and a soloist and conductor with leading ensembles across the country.
Jazz Band — musicians of the Sum Funny Orchestra
An ensemble bringing together performers with academic backgrounds from leading theaters and philharmonic orchestras. Today, they are members of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and active participants in Israel’s contemporary music scene.
Please note: the concert takes place outdoors on the grounds of an ancient seaside monastery. It may get chilly by the sea in the evening, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or something warm in case of cool weather.
Also, please be aware that there is no bar or café on the monastery grounds.
Entrance to the monastery is from the Jaffa promenade side, not through the Old City.
See you among the candles, music, and the evening sea ✨
